The Difference Between Fat And Water Soluble Vitamins

There are two types of vitamins. These are fat and water-soluble vitamins. Fat-soluble vitamins can only be utilized in the body if there is fat in the diet. Water-soluble vitamins can only be utilized when water is present in the diet.

There are four fat-soluble vitamins, also known as lipid soluble vitamins, and these include:

* Vitamin A

* Vitamin D

* Vitamin E

* Vitamin K

These vitamins are related to each other structurally and all are necessary in the body so that the body can maintain its daily repair as well as keep the organs functioning properly. These vitamins are stored in the body's fat and are dissolved in the body fat. This is different from water-soluble vitamins, as water-soluble vitamins only dissolve in water and are not stored in the body.

A person absorbs their fat-soluble vitamins in the intestines. Those individuals who have some sort of disease of the intestine are unable to absorb these vitamins properly and this typically leads to a vitamin deficiency.
