Why is Snoring Noisy?

Posted by administrator Tuesday, August 26, 2008 0 comments

Even with the basic end result of snoring is of the end result in continuously loud noises throughout the night due to breathing blockage, there are truly a good number of reasons as to why and how snoring is occurring. When studying snoring causes upon a deeper level, there are not only natural snoring causes, but there are also unnaturally direct reasons that so many people do snore.

When looking at the natural reasons there are several, with many of them requiring surgery when they must be changed to stop the snoring, or other health issue relations. When you are snoring directly due to the mouth or throat shape that you were born with, there may be lifelong snoring issues that will have to be corrected with effort to fix the habitual snoring.

There are temporary or even permanent circumstances such as enlarged adenoids, enlarged tonsils, a palate that is thick and low, a thicker than normal tongue, the unconventional shape of your back throat uvula that hangs, a deviated septum, or just a narrowed passage airway. These are all reasons for an individual to naturally snore, and most always need a doctor's attention.

When looking at the snoring reasons for snoring to be personally caused by things that are better in our control to correct or better maintain, being overweight, cigarette smoking or constant second hand smoke exposure, indulging in alcoholic beverages, medications prescribed or over-the-counter medications, and even certain types of mucus making foods and liquids. For all of the snoring causes that we have physical control over, such as our daily diets, the medications that we take and those terribly bad habits of smoking and alcohol consumption, it is up to each individual to make a drastic life saving change to their life style.

There are also the snoring causes of colds, allergies, hay fever and asthma problems that are direct contributors that more often than not, cause snoring to happen. These are snoring causes that are capable to be fully controlled so that there is a regular night of sleep every night. If you are asthmatic, your doctor will be able to help you control the asthma and then secondary, the snoring. But for those that that have a cold, hay fever or allergies, there are plenty over-the-counter medications, nasal drops such as Asonor and even devices like adhesive nasal strips to contribute to better breathing.

The shelves today are full of some very good anti-snoring remedies, and finding the best fitting one is the hardest part. These anti-snoring remedies prices vary just as much as there are so many different anti-snoring relief methods and remedies. When starting your search for the right fitting anti-snoring remedy, it is recommended to start with the simplest and cheapest anti-snoring solutions first, and then moving up the ladder with the many variations of anti snoring methods until one is found to work well. With all that is available today in the ways of anti-snoring solutions, there just is no longer an excuse to snore another night.

Is Snoring Due to Bronchitis?

Posted by administrator 0 comments

With snoring becoming more prevalent year after year, there are now many on going studies for finding out all that can be on the repercussions of long-term steady snoring in both men and women of all age groups. Doctors and researchers have only really officially studied snoring as a worrisome on going problem since the 1960's, but a wide array of serious health issues have been connected to habitual snoring, and the health risks are still being discovered.

One of the most recent health risk findings is the association of snoring all the time and chronic bronchitis. As of January 2008, those patients that suffered from chronic bronchitis had been found to more often be regular nightly snorers than those without chronic bronchitis. These specific linking studies between chronic bronchitis and habitual snoring have been under the research microscope with doctors around the globe since the earliest part of the 2000-decade and the studies have been continuous ever since. Even with all of the studies linking the chronic bronchitis and habitual snoring, the exact causes and specific reasons of connections are still being researched due to some unsure answers still not being known.

At this point, there are now over 88 million snoring Americans, and a good 10% of these habitual snorers are beyond the embarrassing nuisance that snoring tends to be. Even though, habitual snoring is not a good safe way to live, but it is within this last 10% of excessively loud and breath stopping constant snoring that is found to be where the highest level of health demeaning risks will set in.

In many cases of snoring, breathing periodically stops and starts which may last up to a few seconds throughout the night. But it is the constant nightly breathing interruptions over the years that so many more life serious health risks will start to arise. With almost 50% of men being snorers, and a good one third of women now regularly snoring, the evidence of the serious health risks has only become even more evident.

The lists of health risks range from kidney failure, heart attacks, and heightened blood pressure and strokes are now only the beginning added on to health wise. With so many snoring complications and no sign of the health risk list stopping anytime soon, it is vital for every regular habitual snoring individual to do all that they can to stop the snoring forever. Before there is a need to consider one of the invasive anti snoring surgeries, such as Somnoplasty, or one of the several other types of surgical procedures, it is best to try out some of the many other anti-snoring remedies now available.

For the more serious snorers, a continuous positive airway pressure mask or also known as a CPAP mask that holds the throat open throughout the night and increases the nightly oxygen flow might be another option. But it is best to start exploring less invasive anti-snoring remedies such as Asonor nasal drops that can be purchased over the counter, because with so many to choose from, there is a good chance to find just the right one for you.

Here's how to reduce fat if you're not losing weight... but you're eating good while exercising a bunch. I want you to totally drop the idea that weight loss is ALL ABOUT diet and exercise. IT ISN'T! I'm going to give you the solution to your weight loss problems.

How to Reduce Fat

1. Your hormones may be the problem that's holding you back from losing weight

To solve this, you need to spin around like a child. NO KIDDING! Seriously, do it because spinning has the uncanny ability to balance your hormones really quick when you repeatedly do them.

I'll give you 1 major tip when it comes to spinning... be sure to stop when you get slightly dizzy. Anything beyond that is a waste of time and can even negate all the positive benefits of spinning itself.

2. The problem may be with medications you're taking

Over-the-counter medications as well as prescription medications are becoming an epidemic. Most of these pills are worthless and only COVER UP your symptoms of whatever the problem is. They usually don't solve it.

Now with weight loss, these medications mess up your hormones. When those get out of control, weight loss is almost impossible and weight gain is usually what will happen. Birth control, cholesterol, and blood pressure pills are the most serious offenders.

The solution is simple... phase off those pills if possible. Talk to your doctor and see what options you have.

3. Drink more water if you're retaining water

You can lose 3-5 pounds quick by drinking more water. By drinking more water, your body dumps out all the water it's retaining. Know this... you body retains water because "it thinks" water is scarce and it wants to protect you with this extra supply of water.

Since water probably isn't scarce for you, that's bad news. But the good news is you can trick the body into thinking water is plentiful by drinking more of it. Once you do that, the body releases the extra water almost immediately.

How to reduce fat and weight is easy when you use these 3 tips consistently.

If you're SICK and TIRED of getting the same old boring weight loss advice... you know, like "Eat more fruits and vegetables, drink 8 glasses of water, jog, and blah blah blah", then...

Best Fat Burners

Posted by administrator 1 comments

What the "Heck" are the Best Fat Burners? If your overweight or obese this is an almighty common question flooding weight loss forums and dieting journals worldwide. Whatever our excess weight, searching for the best fat burners is now "THE" most common query amongst wanna-b dieters.

Lets think philosophically shall we for one moment and try to answer the burning question of the most efficient way to lose weight.

No-one can refute that the easiest way to lose weight is to consume a well balanced diet accompanied with regular exercise, along with required rest and relaxation.

Well - Fat Burning Pills, Weight Loss Pills,... Blockers, Binders, Burners, - whatever you want to call them - Provide a Short Cut. It is no myth that they don't work, it's just about choosing the right ones to put in your body.

* Which are the Best Fat Burners - Prescription or Natural?

Well, fat burning pills can be divided into 2 Categories: Prescribed - or - Over the Counter. Would it interest you in knowing which are the best of these fat burners?

Consider this: If Alli claims to block 25% of dietary fats from your meals then these are "clinically proven" results. This means it has been clinically tested by real individuals who get paid to partake in clinical trials and the results, if proven to be safe and successful, are then medically endorsed by the medical community and the F.D.A (Food and Drugs Association).

But prescription fat burners are far from perfect. Most come with "treatment effects" as the weight loss industry put it. These can include oily complexions, irritable bowels, loose stools.. and a bunch of irregular effects on brain and sleeping patterns.

At the same time, prescription weight loss pills are essentially used to treat obesity which itself presents dangers to your health. As the side effects of some of the best fat burning pills go hand in hand, doctors who treat obesity, advise of their potential symptoms, yet prescribe them as they are probably the only effective way to lose weight.

Not all weight loss fat burning supplements, whether sold over the counter or through prescription back up what they claim though. Have you noticed their amazing promises of "guaranteed" fat burning weight loss on a daily basis, which will lead to permanent weight loss: It's a Proven Fact!

Ummm,.... well it sure isn't. Mostly because they don't support these claims with clinical facts. If it doesn't have the specific medical endorsements you cannot know for sure whether it will burn your fat, increase your metabolism, or it's simply just a placebo.

Another point of concern are the natural or herbal ingredients.

Does Natural mean safe? Consider this when choosing fat burning pills: Clenbuterol or Ephedra were once "THE" most popular fat burners on the market.

Do you remember the "Size Zero Pill"? Originally designed to treat asthma for horses. This little puppy really got the heart racing, so much so, that even some celebrities were soon developing serious eating disorders due to it's powerful appetite suppressant.

The F.D.A soon discovered this fat burner to be extremely unsafe to our nervous system and its sister drug, Ephedra, was banned and Clenbuterol then became a prescription drug only in the U.S and banned in some European countries.

So our advice in choosing natural supplements, so as to attain the best fat burners, would be to check first that they have been clinically tested and have strong, successful testimonials from the weight loss community.

Undoubtedly, the leader among natural weight loss pills in 2007 was Proactol - clinically tested and acknowledged by health professionals and customers as a safe and good fat burning pill and fat blocking pill.

* Weight Loss Slimming Pills Action Types:

Weight loss slimming pills can be divided into various Actions:

Appetite Suppressants:

Appetite suppressants are one of the oldest ways to treat dieting and weight loss and there are a number of reputable brands out there. Remember: always check with those that have undergone clinical trials.

Hoodia Gordonii was the first major hit in the weight loss market. Derived from the natural extracts of the Hoodia Plant, originally used for centuries by local cultures and communities, it has now been patented and is now a popular suppressant and additional supplement among dieters.

Fat Burners and Blockers:

Fat burners work by helping the body break down fat in the digestive track. Once released the fat then enters the blood stream where the fatty acids are then burned in the muscle.

Some fat burners act solely by burning the fat at an increased rate, whilst some also block specific fat and carbohydrate material in your diet.

In this instance, fats and/or carbs that are usually absorbed in the stomach, are restricted from being broken down and then pass through your intestine and out of your system.

Both Proactol and Alli are fat blockers which their clinical trials approve over 25% fat blocking capabilities.

Alli, (a softer version to Xenical which has more powerful "treatment effects".) is F.D.A approved and is sold over the counter in the U.S. But whilst dieting using this fat burner/blocker, it is advised that you stick to a dietary fat intake of 15mgs per each meal, as otherwise loose bowel and stool side effects are felt.

As a fat blocker and burner, acting somewhat like Alli, but free from the side effects, Proactol is now the leading fat burning/blocking pill. It acts safely and helps lose weight safely and steadily over a period of time whatever your dietary intake.

The conclusion is simple - choose well known brands that are clinically tested and deliver positive results. There is no quick fix way to lose weight but weight loss pills, which combine both fat burning and fat blocking capabilities do help you lose weight more effectively.

If patients with pre-diabetes lose between 5 and 7% of their weight and they exercise half an hour every day, five days a week, the risk to develop diabetes type 2 mellitus can be lowered by 60% in 3 years.

A road to avoid
If patients with pre-diabetes lose between 5 and 7% of their weight and they exercise half an hour every day, five days a week, the risk for developing diabetes type 2 Mellitus can be lowered by 60 percent in 3 years.

In Part I of these two articles I indicated that obesity is the major risk factor for Diabetes Type 2, also known as Diabetes Mellitus. To understand how obesity can take you to a diagnosis of diabetes type 2, let us check a few facts.

The first thing you need to be aware of is that obesity is what ignites the spark. The extra fat accumulated in your fat cells releases cytokines, a kind of proteins that cause inflammation. In particular, the abdominal fat and the one found around your internal organs such as the liver, the heart, etc, are the ones associated with inflammation, indicates Dr. Brent Wisse at the Department of Medicine, University of Washington, Seattle.

According to Dr. Wisse, the cells that form the fat tissue secrete a number of molecules that seem to send signals to your body parts; these molecules start the inflammatory process. These signals in turn cause resistance to insulin, a state where the glucose in the blood cannot get into the cells. Therefore, inflammation within your fat tissue may be a first step which results in diabetes and atherosclerosis.

As you can see, there is a relationship between obesity, the inflammatory process, and the appearance of resistance to insulin. These three factors are associated with a risk increase for developing diabetes type 2 or diabetes mellitus.

As insulin resistance increases, your body cells panic because they are not getting their food, glucose, and thinking the problem is not enough insulin in the blood, they call the pancreas to produce more, so that glucose can enter the cells. Obediently, the pancreas releases more insulin into the blood which does no good because the fat cells refuse to let glucose enter. Eventually, these irregularities cause the glucose level in the blood to go up after meals although at this stage it still remains normal before meals.

All this commotion causes the general level of glucose in the blood to go up little by little. Finally the pancreas gets exhausted with this back and forth glucose business and can not produce enough insulin to keep the glucose in the blood within normal levels. Of course, this process does not happen overnight; it may take between 5 and 10 years in an adult and the end result is pre-diabetes. The same process goes much faster in children.

When the pancreas cannot satisfy the demand for insulin, glucose in the blood will reach levels where your doctor will diagnose diabetes type 2. At this point, patients need oral medication to lower the glucose in the blood, help the system to release more insulin, and reduce insulin resistance.

With time, the production of insulin decreases even more and many patients with diabetes type 2 need insulin shots to control glucose. If the resistance to insulin continues for a long time, oral medication plus insulin shots could be necessary.

As you may also know, diabetes can lead to heart and kidney complications as well as nerve damage in the legs and the eyes. Most patients with diabetes die of heart attacks, a powerful reason to follow a balance diet that protects your heart.

Conclusion
I hope your understanding of how obesity can lead to diabetes mellitus type 2 helps you take the necessary measures to prevent this terrible disease. And if you are serious about losing weight, please, don’t embark in a crazy diet that offers you miracles in a few weeks because chances are it may not be a healthy diet and you will get those lost pounds back quite soon. Get yourself acquainted with the sound principles of healthy diets available to you. A good alternative is a Mediterranean diet since throughout many centuries this diet has protected the people of the Mediterranean basin from obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and many other chronic diseases.

Beautiful Hair and Health

Beautiful hair is the most obvious sign of health and vitality on a man or woman. It is easy for hair to become damaged from air pollution, a nutrient-poor diet, and environmental toxins, so it is important to visit a hair salon regularly in order to maintain vibrant, radiant hair.

There are a variety of health problems that can arise from neglect for one's hair. An overly dry scalp can lead to itching and dandruff. Without regular haircuts, the end of the hairs will split and form weak, out of control strands. Hair can also become brittle and break easily as a result of a poor diet, excessive use of heat when styling, and excessive color treatments. The use of too many styling products leads to product build-up in the hair, leaving the head sticky, greasy, and unable to be cleansed with simple shampoo. If it goes undetected, gradual hair loss can escalate into permanent baldness. Lack of attention for hair can also cause one to overlook head lice and other infestations in the hair.

If a certain type of hair is not treated properly with the right styling products and procedures, environmental factors may wreak havoc on a person's hairstyle, and that is why it is important to develop healthy grooming practices. For example, those with oily hair should use an oil-free shampoo, and those with dry hair should use an intensive conditioner daily and avoid using heat when styling. Frizzy hair can be controlled with gel, while fine hair should be treated with a volumizing shampoo.

When you arrive at Olivers Salon and Day Spa or any salon for that matter, a hairdresser will first wash your hair with a salon-quality shampoo and conditioner. These products ensure that hair is clean and healthy before cutting and styling. Take advantage of this time to discuss with your hairdresser your particular questions and concerns regarding your current hairstyle. He or she will likely be able to suggest a washing and styling regimen to best maintain your hair type. While washing your hair, a hairdresser will often also provide a brief scalp massage, improving circulation and relieving stress and tension.

Before a hairdresser begins cutting your hair, be sure that you and the hairdresser are both clear on your requests and expectations. Going through a hairstyle magazine or bringing in a picture of your desired hairstyle can help with this process. Often, a hairdresser will suggest a particular hairstyle that may be flattering to your hair style or face shape. While it is good to consider these ideas, make sure that you feel comfortable with the style that you and your hairdresser agree on. As your hairdresser is cutting your hair, he or she should check in with you periodically to make sure that you are satifisfied with the cut.

After cutting your hair, a hairdresser will usually style it for you with the necessary products. During this time, make sure to gain as much knowledge as you can about keeping your hair strong and healthy. You should book your next appointment before leaving the salon for whatever date your hairdresser recommends. To maintain a hairstyle it is advisable return in 4 weeks. If you're growing your hair out, don't wait more than 8 weeks to trim off split ends and facilitate healthy hair growth.

Looking to get a flat stomach? Aside from the motivation and discipline, which can only come from within your heart and mind, I can at least give you some pointers on how to achieve that goal. What follows are some tips to doing so.

The first thing to shoot for is having a body that is lean, short on fat. This takes nutrition done sensibly and consistently, along with regular workouts. This means always doing it, and doing it the same way. No cutting corners or cheating, because you are only cheating yourself. Why would you want to do that? But, relax. You will find that after you have disciplined yourself to doing it the same way for at least three weeks, that you begin to do it as part of your regular routine, and doing so unconsciously. It will have become ingrained in your psyche. But getting past the first three weeks will make or break you. Think to yourself how badly you want to get a flat stomach.

Then you need to alter your eating habits. Fat is just the result of your body not using all the energy that enters your body through eating. What the body doesn't use, it stores as fat. So, eating your carbs before the afternoon, say twelve noon to 1 o'clock, or right before you go to workout, would be ideal. Carbs are found in foods like rice, pasta, potatoes and bread. But just don't be tempted to eat the bad carbs...you know, the McDonald's fries? Get rid of them. Go for the healthier carbs instead.

Now we get into talking about your training. Don't just do the weight lifting and cardio workouts. Mix it up with things like stairs, sprints, uphill sprinting, swimming, and maybe even rock climbing at your local gym or recreation center. This keeps things fun and mixed up, and will help you if you are the sort of person who likes to "fudge" on their workouts. Remember, get through the first three weeks without cheating on yourself and you will be that much closer to your goal.

Along the nutrition line of thought, fat can be good -- to an extent. Since our bodies crave fat, you don't have to deny it completely. Just be intelligent with your choices of what fat to eat. Go for the unsaturated fats, which are the good fats your body uses, and can be found in abundance in foods like nuts, cottage cheese and even sardines. Stay away from all those other types of fat, or you will find it sitting in your gut like an unwelcome house guest.

There is a lot more that goes into it, but if you want to get a flat stomach, then you've got to remember to be consistent, both with exercise and eating, and don't go cheating yourself out of any of it. Cutting corners here will lead to broken dreams and bigger shirt sizes to cover up your disappointment. You can get a flat stomach with discipline and by sticking to these tips.

The Highs and Lows of Blood Pressure

Posted by administrator Wednesday, August 6, 2008 0 comments

If there's one disease most people are unaware of, it's high blood pressure or hypertension. And many are paying the price for their ignorance.

In the United States alone, about 73 million people age 20 and above have hypertension according to the American Heart Association (AHA). Of that number, over 50,000 die yearly as a result of the condition. Over 150,000 people die each year from strokes, one of the many complications of hypertension, while 2,980,000 Americans have been disabled by the disease.

"It's a very common disease all over the world, especially in the West. Hypertensive patients make up from 25 to 30 percent of the population. But many people don't know they have high blood pressure - it's a hidden disease," according to Dr. Gianfranco Parati, clinical associate of the Department of Cardiology, Istituto Scientifico Ospedale San Luca in Milan, Italy.

Blood pressure is the force created by your heart as it pumps blood into the arteries. This is measured by a sphygmomanometer that consists of an inflatable rubber cuff (which is slipped around your upper arm) and a manometer or pressure-measuring instrument.

The sphygmomanometer was first described a hundred years ago by the Italian doctor S. Riva Rocci in 1896. Since then, it remains one of the most important tools in diagnosing high blood pressure. How does it work?

When the cuff is inflated, it shuts off blood flow to a main artery of the arm. A stethoscope is placed on the arm near the cuff which is slowly deflated. While doing this, the doctor or nurse listens to the arterial pulse with the stethoscope.

The first sound heard is the systolic pressure which reflects the pressure of the heart each time it contracts. The last sound is the diastolic pressure which is the pressure in the arteries between beats. These are expressed in millimeters of mercury or mm Hg. So if your systolic pressure is 134 and your diastolic pressure is 90, your reading would be 134/90 mm Hg.

Still, the sphygmomanometer has limitations. Parati says readings can be influenced by many things such as observer bias and white coat hypertension - the emotional effect of seeing a doctor that can lead to hypertension.

If you're a stickler for details, you can benefit from intra-arterial ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) which gives precise readings throughout the day. However, Parati said this invasive technique is time consuming and requires costly and complex computer analysis.

There are other blood pressure measuring devices in the market today that are cheaper and less cumbersome than the sphygmomanometer or ABPM. Some take readings from the wrist or fingers. There's even one that you can wear like a watch. But they're the worst of the lot, according to Parati, because they're very unreliable.

"These are nice toys. They may tell you how your blood pressure changes from here to there but they won t give you a clear picture of your condition," said Parati, associate professor at the Postgraduate School of Cardiology, University of Milan.

So until someone comes up with a better way of measuring blood pressure, it looks like we're stuck with the sphygmomanometer. (Next: Get high and die with hypertension.)

Since obesity is a factor in hypertension, it pays to lose weight. To help you shed those unwanted pounds, take Zyroxin, a safe and natural supplement that will maximize your weight loss through its unique fat-burning ingredients.

What is Blood Pressure?

When do we say that a person(s) is suffering with Blood Pressure?

Blood Pressure also called as Hypertension has become a very common among us these days. Blood Pressure in short called as B.P. is one's systolic pressure and diastolic pressure measurements. If we consult a doctor he wraps a band around our biceps and records the measurement for example:- 120/80. Here 120 is the systolic pressure and 80 is the diastolic pressure. One may be enigmatic over what are these systolic and diastolic pressures are? Let me explain you....

Systolic pressure is the force exerted by the heart on the blood vessels when it pumps blood whereas Diastolic pressure is the lowest pressure exerted by the blood on the walls of blood vessels when heart is relaxed. Both these measurements are important to make a note.

A person suffering from high values of these pressures is said to be having high B.P.

Well, with this understanding lets go deep and know the affects of B.P. But before that lets know the causes

Causes for B.P.?

Over Anxiety, Enormous Exercises, Nervousness are some of the causes to have high reading of the measurements(systolic and diastolic pressures). Before knowing the affect of each of the above causes lets know what happens if we neglect this?Neglecting this may hampers one's health. We may face premature strokes and also heart attacks. It is advised to consult a Physician when the you feel uncomfortable.

Now lets know each factor causing BP in detail

Every one has blood pressure and this varies from individual to individual. Some may have High value which causes health problems. Researchers say that there are some factors which we cannot be controlled on the other hand we also have some factors that we can control in order to keep it in limits. Are you thinking "how can i lower my blood pressure?" So, lets know what are those factors that we can control.

Exercise makes oneself Healthy. Regular exercise contribute for well being and healthy body. A scheduled work out like walking, jogging, swimming, cycling will keep your body fit.

Another important factor is food, What we eat? And How much we eat? is very much a important concern in keeping ourselves healthy. Eating a Fibre rich, Fat low, high protein and Low Cholesterol food such as vegetables like tomatoes, potatoes, mangoes, leafy vegetables, pulses etc., will make us healthy. Try to avoid junk food which disturbs your appetite.

Alcohol & Smoking are another important factors on which we can have a regulation. Over consumption of alcohol will affect the human health. We don't say you to stop consuming it completely but limit yourself to a peg or two. We know that Smoking is Injurious to Health. Smoking causes peripheral vascular disease as well as hardening of the arteries. So stop smoking and let your life go rocking.

Add Salt to taste in your food because Excessive usage of Salt in your diet increases B.P. It seems to be puzzling, but its a fact. Sodium is the major content in salt. The human adult needs 1teaspoon of table salt per day on an average this amount to an equivalent of approximately 2 to 3 grams of salt. A low-sodium diet may decrease the likelihood of heart or kidney disease and stroke and also B.P.

If you still want to explore the ways to regulate your Blood Pressure levels or still thinking "How can I lower my blood pressure?" I recommend you to visit Blood Pressure Reduction Guide

Most find white teeth attractive however, the many factors including diet, habits, and even diseases have caused the discoloration of teeth. If you want to get that pearly white teeth here are some tips that you will find useful.

Whiten your teeth by using baking soda to brush your teeth. To make things easier for you get your own personal box of baking soda. And then here's what you need to do to use the baking soda while brushing your teeth. Make sure your toothbrush is dry then dip this in the baking soda completely. Use this to brush your teeth thoroughly then scrub on all sides. Do this constantly thrice a day or every after meals for two months and you will notice a difference in the color of your teeth. If you really want really white teeth, you should make this a daily habit.

You can also try brushing your teeth with hydrogen peroxide to make your teeth whiter. Just put a small amount of peroxide in a cup then dip the brush into the cup making sure the brush is covered completely by the peroxide. Brush your teeth with the hydrogen peroxide just once a day. Spit any peroxide and make sure you didn't swallow any of it then rinse with water followed by a mouthwash. Similar with baking soda, you will notice an improvement in the color of your teeth after two months. Though many individuals think hydrogen peroxide is an effective teeth whitening agent, continue to use caution because this is a highly poisonous substance. Do not forget to think of the risks that come with using this substance.

If you are really interested about teeth whitening, then use both baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. You can combine a few drops of peroxide and a teaspoon of baking soda to form a paste that you can use to brush your teeth. After brushing your teeth, rinse with water then gargle with a mouthwash. This would give you a double strength teeth whitening formula that would certainly make your teeth whiter in just a few months especially if you make it a habit of brushing your teeth regularly..

Aside from using peroxide and baking soda, a good diet will be useful in maintaining a white and healthy set of teeth. Stay away from sugar or anything sweet to keep away from tooth decay. Tap water is also an excellent source of fluorides so make it a habit to drink plenty of water in a day. If you are a smoker or a drinker who would like to make your teeth whiter, as much as possible quit these bad habits. They will only discolor your teeth. Vitamins would also keep your teeth stronger so make it a habit of taking these on a daily basis.

Finally, never miss brushing your teeth especially after each meal. Flossing and rinsing your teeth after brushing with a toothpaste or any of the mentioned substitutes would help maintain the good health of your teeth and prevent further discoloration.

Bad Breath Cure

Posted by administrator 0 comments

Bad Breath is one of the most embarrassing problems that anybody could have, it interferes with every aspect of your life, from your social and sex life, to work and business life.

It's estimated that anywhere upwards of 90% of people will suffer from it at some point in their life, whether it be true halitosis or just the dreaded morning Breath. Bad Breath can be responsible for severe depression, and even end relationships with your friends, family or business associates.

We all worry about our breath at some point, as it is difficult smell your own breath, and people don't normally tell you about your problem. So why not try licking your wrist, then allow the saliva to air dry, and smell it yourself.

Or you can try scraping your tongue with a spoon, allow the residue to dry, and smell that, if the smell isn't too bad then you should feel pretty safe about your breath. However, as we do come accustomed to our own breath, you can always ask your partner, or trusted friend to smell your breath and be honest with you.

There are also home tests, that involve taking a swab of your tongue to determine the amount of sulfur compounds on there, you may have to take several tests at different times of the day to get an average, but they can be accurate. You can also use the portable halimeter, go to one of the new breath clinics popping up everywhere, or consult your doctor for an opinion. They should be able to take a swab, and determine how bad the sulfur compounds are.

So what causes bad breath :

While many people believe that Bad Breath originates from the stomach, 85 to 90% actually originates from the mouth, and the majority of that is from a small triangle area on the back of your tongue.

Your tongue contains anaerobic bacteria who's function is to break down proteins in your mouth, from food, mucus, and damaged tissue, the results of which creates odorous by-products such as volatile sulfur compounds like Hydrogen Sulphide, comparable to rotten eggs, Cadaverine comparable to corpses, Putrescine comparable to rotten meat and many more. You will always have some level of these VSCs, but you can decrease them so they are not detectable by the human nose.

These anaerobic bacteria live between tiny fibers called Papillae located on your tongue, this is because anaerobic means without oxygen, so they cannot survive on the surface of the tongue, they must bury between the Papillae. The reason the majority of them are located at the back of the tongue, is the front of the tongue is self cleaning, and often rubs against your teeth, and the roof of your mouth.

Things to do before treatment that can cut out bad breath :

Before treatment of bad breath certain things should be done to help combat it. The majority of bad breath is caused by a dry mouth, as your saliva contains oxygen to fight off the bad bacteria. Some things that are responsible for a dry mouth are listed below.

• The biggest cause of bad breath and dry mouth, is not drinking enough water, our bodies constantly need water and if our mouth is dry, then we are already dehydrated.

• The next is alcohol, and alcohol based mouthwashes, as these dry out the mouth. Even antiseptic mouthwash wears off in three hours allowing the bacteria to grow back in abundance worse than before. These mouthwashes only mask the problem not deal with the underlying cause, and can worsen the condition in the long run.

• Poor diet and smoking can also cause a dry mouth. Highly processed food, and food with high protein content, make the perfect food for the bacteria to break down and cause them smells as well.

• Certain medications such as cold remedies, blood pressure pills, antidepressants, and antihistamines, also have a drying effect. Talk with your doctor to see if they are really necessary, don't just stop taking them without your doctor's permission.

• Coffee has a high acid content, whether it contains caffeine or not. Bacteria thrive the more acidic your mouth is. PH below 7 is acidic and above is alkaline, your normal mouth is 6.5, so you want to push it towards 7.

• While chewing gum actually increases saliva, which is good to combat bad breath, the sugar content will actually do more harm than good, so make sure if you chew gum that it is sugarless.

Never use antibiotics to kill off the bacteria on your tongue, as most people have Candida on their tongue, which is kept in check by the helper bacteria, once the bacteria is wiped out the Candida is set free and can cause thrush or worse, you also run the risk of creating resistant strains of bacteria if you don't kill off all the bacteria.

Teeth Whitening - The Facts

Posted by administrator 0 comments

Teeth Whitening has been available for some years but recently it has leaped to the top of the cosmetic treatments list. More and more patients are asking their dentists about teeth whitening and many are asking if there are side effects or if it can causes damage to teeth. On the other hand research shows that there is an increase of over 300% in demand for modern whitening techniques so it is quite possible some people jump right in without asking any questions at all. Well here are the answers to some of the questions are asked and some important facts that anyone who is considering cosmetic teeth whitening should know.

Teeth Whitening - does it work?
Dentists would never recommend a treatment unless they were convinced that it was safe and effective. Professional teeth whitening, administered by a dentist, definitely falls into this category and there can be little doubt that it really does work. What's more the results can be an absolute transformation as the popularity of the treatment goes to prove. If your dentist performs the teeth whitening procedure you can have a smile to be proud of in just a few hours. Alternatively you can take the diy route. Ask your dentist to make you a tray and perform the procedure yourself, at home, over a period of several weeks. You will need to be patient and ensure you complete the full treatment plan but in the end you will be very pleased with the results.

Why do I need to whiten my teeth?
People choose to whiten their teeth to gain a more confident and attractive smile. White teeth look better, but unfortunately everyone's teeth are stained by food and drink. Over time, tea and coffee as well as red wine, soft drinks and the colourants in food all contribute to discolouration. Some medication can also cause staining and smokers' teeth can become permanently stained if nothing is done. Tooth brushing alone cannot restore teeth affected by many years of staining. And often people whose teeth are badly discoloured may over-brush in an attempt to remove stains damaging the enamel covering of their teeth.

What happens in the teeth whitening procedure?
Teeth whitening treatment essentially lightens the colour of your teeth to improve your appearance by reducing tooth discolouration, giving you a brighter smile. The term 'whitening' is misleading however as teeth vary in colour and no one actually has white teeth. Teeth differ in shade and some people's teeth are naturally darker than others. The actual degree of 'whiteness' achieved will vary from patient to patient but the results are invariably a great improvement.

In-surgery whitening is fast and makes an immediate difference. During the procedure whitening gel will be applied to your teeth by the dentist and a special light used to activate the gel. Once the gel is activated, it remains on your teeth for 15-20 minutes before further applications. Your teeth can be whitened by several shades and tooth shade charts may be used during the consultation to access your current tooth colour and establish your whitening goal.

For a home whitening kit you will have a custom made mouth tray created by your dentist which you will use for the treatment. The kit includes a whitening gel which is placed in the tray. You then wear the tray for a few hours a day or overnight and improvements are normally seen over a 2-4 week period. Home kits offer a flexible option and although they may take longer, the results can be as effective as in-surgery whitening.

Will I need the treatment again?
Your teeth should never darken back to their original colour completely after professional teeth whitening, but most people notice a slight fade back after 18 months to 2 years. This can easily be remedied by just a few hours use of a home whitening kit.

Will the treatment cause any damage to my teeth?
Properly administered whitening will not damage your teeth. However, whitening procedures should not be undertake without a consultation with your dentist who will examine the condition and sensitivity of your teeth and gums. Some patients may suffer temporary sensitivity as a result of the effect of the whitening gel used in the procedure, but this is usually mild and short term.

What can I do to keep my teeth white?
To help your teeth whitening treatment last as long as possible it is important to avoid food and drink that could stain your teeth for at least a week after whitening. These should also be avoided while administering home teeth whitening treatments. It is also recommended that you stop smoking for as long as possible as this is also detrimental to your health.

Diabetes Warning Signs - Everyone Must Know to Avoid

Posted by administrator Monday, August 4, 2008 0 comments

Diabetes often goes undiagnosed because its symptoms are usually ignored. Often we get sick but pay no attention to the special diabetic symptoms we are having, we just think that we are not feeling well.

Symptoms of type 1 diabetes often come on suddenly and are severely dramatic. The extra stress of diabetes can lead to something called diabetic ketoacidosis. Symptoms of ketoacidosis may include nausea and vomiting, which may also lead to dehydration and serious problems with the blood levels of potassium. This could lead to a diabetic coma and ultimately death.

Apart from the symptoms that were mentioned already, there are other symptoms that you may want to be watching for. While the symptoms that have been mentioned already are the most common, here are some other ones that may be present, as well, or instead of the other ones if diabetes is present.

Prediabetes may also present the same symptoms, it only indicates that diabetes may be on the way.

* Excessive thirst
* Frequent trips to bathroom
* Fatigue
* Nausea
* Weight loss
* Blurred vision
* Numbness in hands and foot

It is extremely important that if you suspect you or your child to have symptoms of diabetes, that you visit your doctor to be tested. If the tests are positive it is not the end of the world. With careful monitoring and care, type 1 diabetics can live long healthy lives.

If you believe your child may be experiencing these symptoms you should schedule them for a thorough examination and tell your doctor what you suspect your child may have. Be sure to tell them about any and all symptoms your child may be experiencing

Each of these symptoms will often be seen at the same time as other diabetic symptoms. It is possible, though, that only one or two of these may appear at a single time. This makes a trip to the doctor that much more important

If any of these are evident. Simple blood tests will be needed to detect either prediabetes or diabetes.

There are many types and styles and different approaches to yoga. Postures, breathing exercises, relaxation, chanting, and meditation are the core of all yoga styles.

Regardless of the type of yoga, and the wide range of benefits it offers, it does not offer a end all way to get fit. According to the American Council on Exercise, a nonprofit organization that certifies fitness instructors, avid yoga practitioners show no improvement in cardiovascular health. A typical 50-min. class of yoga burns off fewer calories than are in three Oreos, at the same rate as a 50-min. walk.

It is best then too supplement yoga with other exercise, in order too promote optimum health and fitness. But the facts show that yoga is something you cant do without!

Yoga Safety

Determining Which Types of Hair Loss Treatments Are For You

Posted by administrator Saturday, August 2, 2008 0 comments

All you need to do is watch television for a few hours and you will see many advertisements for hair loss treatments. However if you are faced with this problem how do you know which ones actually work and which ones are a waste of time and money?

With the wide array of hair loss treatments available to individuals these days, one may wonder just which treatment is right for them. Some are short-term in nature whereas others are more permanent. There are a few ways to determine which types of lost hair treatments are right for you and which ones are best left to others who may be battling hair loss.

One consideration to keep in mind is whether you want a quick fix or a long-term solution. Some items such as hairpieces and hair creams will provide a quick fix however they may not work as well for the long term. On the other hand, certain lost hair treatments such as hair transplant surgeries and oral medications may prevent the loss of hair or cover up a bald area on your head for the long haul. When considering the different options, it is best to determine whether you want it to last a lifetime or be a temporary solution to the hair loss problem.

Another factor to consider in order to determine which type of treatment is best for you is in the case of what you want the treatment to accomplish. Certain treatments for loss of hair will only prevent future loss of hair whereas others will aid in re-growing the hair that was initially lost. By determining what outcome you are searching for you will better be able to select the best type of hair treatment product or surgical intervention.

There may also be certain risks involved with treatments for loss of hair, all depending on what type of treatment you obtain. For example, treatments such as oral medications and hair transplant surgeries always have the possibility of side effects occurring. Although the chance of side effects will vary depending on the individual and treatment sought, the risk is always there. However, for other types of treatments such as hairpieces or cover up creams, the risks may be much less. It is important to review all of the possible risks to determine if this is the right treatment to pursue.

Lastly, cost is an additional factor to keep in mind when perusing the available treatments for loss of hair. You may find that obtaining a hair transplant procedure is well out of your financial means but acquiring a hairpiece may be possible. In addition, consider whether the treatment products will need to be purchased a few times or on a frequent basis as this too may add up in price. Since many of us live on a budget these days, it is important to inquire about the cost of the various treatment methods. This is simply another factor which must be addressed when reviewing your various hair loss treatment options and trying to choose one which will work best for you.

To summarize we can say that though hair provides protection to the brain but for women it also adds on to the cosmetic value of their personality.

Hair loss has affected millions of men and women. Though excessive hair loss results in baldness, which further lowers the self esteem, confidence as well as dignity of an individual, this experience may be traumatic for a woman. To look appealing and beautiful is every woman’s desire & this desire could be marred due to excessive hair loss. Hair loss in women not only mars her personality but at the same time draws a lot of attention thereby causing a lot of humiliation. It is quite normal if the hair loss is around fifty to hundred strands a day but beyond this women should be extra cautious.

Excessive hair loss in women may be attributed to many underlying health related issues .This should be taken care of and a doctor should be immediately referred to.
Patterned hair loss in females is different in that the hair loss is not localized, instead thinning of hair occurs throughout the scalp thereby making the scalp visible whereas in men hair loss is usually localized at the top of the head. Hair loss in women could be attributed to many reasons. Women usually resort to improper hair treatment as well as styling such as chemical treatment, hair coloring, perming and wearing hair styles like pigtails, cornrow etc that pull the hair tightly resulting in hair loss. Moreover women are more susceptible to hormonal imbalance making them more prone to hair loss.

Post pregnancy or after a long term illness or surgery, females experience imbalance in the estrogen level. Consumption of antidepressant drugs or birth control pills which contain anticoagulant (i.e. blood thinners) may also lead to hair loss in women. Over or under secretion of thyroxine from thyroid gland is yet another cause for hair loss in women. Women could resort to certain home remedies such as applying coconut milk on the scalp, preparing & using home made shampoos by boiling hundred gm each of reetha, amla, shikakai in two litres of water till it reduces to half, for a month etc to prevent hair loss. Since hair is made up of a protein called keratin, consuming food rich in protein might help. Hair loss in women could be cured by rubbing minoxidil to their scalp twice daily to enhance hair growth & prevent hair loss.

With the dramatic improvement in technologies like hair implantation, laser therapy etc hair loss would no longer be a cause of nightmare for women. You could now look forward to these techniques which not just assure cent percent results but could also be availed at affordable prices.

Guide for quitting smoking cigarettes

Posted by administrator Friday, August 1, 2008 1 comments

Most smokers are afraid that they can’t quit, that cigarettes are more powerful than they are. Actually this is fear from the fear, because if you are still smoking, how can you know that it’s hard without cigarettes?

Most smokers are afraid that they can’t quit, that cigarettes are more powerful than they are. Actually this is fear from the fear, because if you are still smoking, how can you know that it’s hard without cigarettes? This is a result from your habit that is controlling you so much that it won’t allow you to imagine how life can look like without smoking.

This point brings another question or excuse of yours. I love smoking; I love the ritual, etc. This is partially true, you love the time spent with yourself in that moment. But the cigarette will burn after two minutes, so why light it in the first place? She’ll burn but the pleasure will only last for two minutes. It will last for two minutes and only two minutes. No more. This conditioning will continue until you are brave enough to interrupt this pattern.

First thing you have to do is to hate that you’re controlled. How can you be a free human being, when someone or something controls you? This should be the first milestone for you. The rest are simply techniques that will help you substitute the smoking habit.

You can’t stop smoking without thinking and trying to implement a non-smoker habit.

After you are sure that you understand this, and only after you’re sure, follow these instructions:

• If you can hold out without smoking for only one minute, don’t you think that you can do it in the next minute? Sure you can. You should battle the craving by the minute. It is a much shorter time period to fight your battle and win. This makes the war all that much easier.

• Your first trigger occurs at a point where the body is conditioned to enjoy a cigarette along with a drink or after a meal, etc. These triggers will last for a maximum of 5 minutes. During these 5 minutes your entire body will convince you that it is okay to light a cigarette, which you have reason and it will come up with so many excuses that it will be hard for you to say no.

• Second, as I mentioned in the secret for becoming a non-smoker, you should not involve yourself in your personal fight with the habit. You can’t win your habit in this way, because there will be a period when you’re feeling “down” and that will be a good enough reason for lighting a cigarette.

• You should also be aware that you’ll be very confused in the first 3 days and this is normal and you should accept it. This is the period where your brain is forcing you to light a cigarette and attempts to convince you with what may seem “reasonable” excuses. Since you programmed your brain to feel pleasure whenever you light a cigarette, it is now telling you that something might be wrong without a cigarette or that something might be missing from your life. Your brain is like a big and mighty ship, but you’re the captain, and it will follow your navigation orders, but needs time to take the right course. There is also wind that is blowing your ship in different directions, and there is still a force that is pushing the ship towards the old navigation commands. Don’t forget the power that you as a captain posses, you can change the course of your ship in any direction you want.

By my experience you’ll need only 3 days to start feeling like a non-smoker.

• Another very helpful thing is to try to help some of your friends who are smokers. Try telling them about this techniques and theories and check their opinion. You can make some kind of pact, trying to work together to beat this habit. At the bottom of every post there is a link labeled “Tell a friend!”. Use this link to forward this message and at least remind your friends that they can quit. This can be very stimulating for you and your strength to quit smoking.

"It's not the nicotine in cigarettes that's harmful. It's the smoke." That was the tag line provided by a manufacturer of nicotine gum during the famous debut of their product's commercials a decade ago.

"It's not the nicotine in cigarettes that's harmful. It's the smoke."

That was the tag line provided by a manufacturer of nicotine gum during the famous debut of their product's commercials a decade ago. While not an entirely accurate statement (will discuss that later) it did strike a nerve with millions of smokers and led them to a rush to purchase nicotine gum. Unlike many other products of the past which promised a lot and delivered little, nicotine transmission products such as gum, patches, sprays et al turned out to work quite well.

This was a veritable godsend! For many years people struggled to discover reliable cures for the pain of nicotine and cigarette addiction but they all were of no avail. Yes, many people were able to quit smoking cold turkey or through other means but with the advent of nicotine transmission substitutes such as nicotine gum and nicotine patches the ability to kick the habit was made far easier than ever before. Because of this, sales of these products boomed to a degree far greater than anyone ever expected.

Whether one is taking nicotine gum, a lozenge or a patch all of these methods serve the same purpose: to deliver nicotine in much smaller doses than what is found in cigarettes and also with the added benefit of not having to inhale dangerous smoke into one's lungs. Of course, different people react differently to different methods and it may take a little trial and error before finding which particular product works for you. So, if one method doesn't work there is no reason to feel despondent. Simply try another method/product and see if better results will occur.

Of course, one must never lose sight of the fact that you should not be puffing away while also chewing your nicotine gum! When you are taking one of these cigarette substitutes it is critical to stop smoking when taking the product. There are many people who use these products as a means of cutting back on the number of cigarettes they smoke per day with the eventual goal of smoking none. While this may seem like a decent plan it is NOT the suggested method promoted by the actual product. The reason for this is that if one were to chew nicotine gum and smoke at the same time the sheer volume of nicotine one would ingest performing such "double duty" would be far too much and certainly not healthy.

It needs to be pointed out that nicotine is harmful and it is not just the smoke that can harm you. In fact, nicotine in high doses can be poisonous! Also, no matter what form you ingest nicotine it still remains a highly addictive substance so when you chew nicotine gum there comes the potential to being addicted to the gum as well. Now, this is not stated as a means of scaring people into avoiding nicotine gums, patches, etc but rather it is a method of presenting certain warnings regarding continued use of these products. They are designed to wean you off the drug not replace one transmission method with another
